Brief of “Snow White and Rose Red: The Curse of the Huntsman (Fairy Tales Retold)” Kindle Book:
Welcome to the Festival of Roses, a world full of magic and romance. Every year during the festival each boy leaves a flower at the door of the girl he believes is the “fairest of them all.” Naturally, Snow White gets dozens of flowers, while her younger sister Rose Red is ignored. This year, though, things are different. For the first time, Rose Red has a mysterious admirer, and this year she isn’t the only one jealous of her sister’s beauty. But even though it?s a time of celebration, when girls begin disappearing, the festival turns deadly. With mysterious strangers arriving every day, an ominous marriage proposal, and magic and danger everywhere, Snow White and Rose Red will need to work together to survive the festival and solve the mystery.
In this fun and whimsical re-imagining of Snow White and her often-forgotten sister Rose Red, Lilly Fang creates a never-before-seen story of magic, mystery, and the bond between two sisters. A must-read!

I want a sequel!!!
What a fun story. I read most of it in one sitting! I wish it would have been longer. I haven’t been feeling well and this story pulled me into another world and made me forget about how I’m feeling. I really liked learning about Rose Red and seeing how elements of the classic fairy tale were incorporated into the story. I hope the author comes out with a sequel!

Great novella with well-developed characters
By Kimiko Narita
Fairy tales seem all the rage these days, but what sets this novella apart is that these ladies actually have personalities. What bothers me about traditional fairy tales is the characters are underdeveloped pawns that go about doing things with the audience not understanding any of the character’ motivation (like in the movie Snow White and the Huntsman, Snow White “exists” but has no personality). But in this book, this Snow White is clever, determined, with a little bit of self-hate going on because she understands people only see her for her beauty. While Snow White’s characterization was great, I definitely related more to Rose Red’s character. Rose Red suffers from a bit of an inferiority complex when it comes to her sister, but she is fiercely loyal and very brave. I felt she was the emotional driver of the story, and I found myself looking forward to reading the chapters from her point of view much more than Snow White’s POV. This seemed intentional because the book opens with Rose Red’s POV. I was not a huge fan of the switching POVs all the time because I liked Rose Red a lot, but I understand the author’s need to do this to move the plot forward. Overall a great novella with a lot of emotion, depth, and courage.

This book was really entertaining! I’ve been waiting for the Snow White and the Huntsman novel to come out that’s based on the movie and thought I’d read this while I was waiting. It was kind of short, but I liked it. The romance was really sweet and the world was really interesting. Wish it had been longer so I could have seen more of it.
